EufyCam VS Arlo Pro Security Camera: Which Is The Better Camera?

The technology for home security cameras continues to evolve, and there are now numerous models that are compatible with smart homes. Some prominent brands like Lorex, Blink, Arlo, and Eufy are known to produce such products to help protect your home. However, because these devices require significant investments, it’s always crucial to choose which one can cater to your household’s specific needs.

If you’re looking to ensure your home’s protection by investing in security cameras, it makes sense to stick to one brand. Aside from saving you a lot of money, it will also ensure that you’re getting the most out of your security system. In this article, we’ll compare Eufy and Arlo to help you determine which one is best for your property.

Eufy VS Arlo Pro Security Camera

Eufy and Arlo are two of the most recognizable names when it comes to home security cameras, as they are known for producing versatile devices that are compatible with smart homes. They both have excellent image quality and performance, and they’re suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

These two brands may seem to have similar features at a glance, with their sleek and contemporary designs being perfect for any modern home. They both also have convenient two-way audio features that allow you to communicate with people near the cameras. However, there are some notable differences between these two prominent brands.

Arlo has been around since 2014. Until its establishment as an independent company in 2018, it existed as a division of computer networking company Netgear. This American brand has a broad range of home security cameras and video doorbells in its arsenal. Arlo security cameras have wired and wireless options, and the choices are highly versatile. The brand offers both free and paid subscription plans for their services, so there’s something for everyone with different budgets.

Eufy is a much younger brand, with the renowned electronics company Anker launching it in 2016. With that being said, Eufy has more limited options, but the features and mobile application interface more than make up for it. Despite being relatively new to the field, it’s a solid contender to Arlo and stands well on its own.

Best Cameras From EufyCam

EufyCam 2 Pro: Best Weather Resistance And 2K Resolution

The EufyCam 2 Pro is one of the best home security cameras on the market with a remarkable 2K video resolution. This makes the footage crystal clear and highly detailed, which is crucial for capturing facial features and other identifiable characteristics.

The camera has smart image enhancement technology, with its built-in AI focusing on people in the shot, making them easier to identify. You can also set a customized detection area, and the device will send you a notification if there are any suspicious movements within that space.

This camera is best if you want to capture a wide area around your home, as it provides an excellent 140° field of view. It also has an IP67 weatherproof rating, which means that it can resist dust and water and is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. If you’re worried about its battery running out, rest assured that it can provide you with a year’s worth of security with just a single charge.

Here’s what a user has to say about it:

Review

Before I purchased the Eufy Pro 3 camera system I had never even heard of Eufy. I started to do my research, much of it on YouTube, and went with Eufy.

The reasons I chose Eufy were (1) quality of video and audio (2) reviews of the app used to control it (3) ability to fine tune my settings and preferences (4) long-term operating cost (5) customer service (6) accuracy of the system and (7) battery life. After having it in operation for several weeks now, I know I made the right purchase decision. I would give it a five stars in all seven buying criteria I mentioned.

It has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. And I especially love the fact that I don’t have to pay a monthly charge for storage…STORAGE IS FREE! …and that was one of my main criteria. Sorry Ring buyers. Last, I have to say Eufy Support is the best! They always answer quickly and are knowledgeable. Signed, super satisfied Eufy customer.”

EufyCam E: Storing Up To A Year’s Worth Of Recordings

If the 8x digital zoom and motion detection feature of the EufyCam 2 Pro are not much of a priority for you, then the EufyCam E is an excellent alternative. The EufyCam E has a lower weatherproof rating of IP65 compared to the EufyCam 2 Pro, but it still can withstand numerous weather conditions for outdoor use. Its 16GB microSD card storage provides you with a year’s worth of recordings. That’s equivalent to a single camera recording 30-second videos 10x a day. It also has a nifty anti-theft alarm that goes off if it detects forceful removal.

Here’s what people have said about the EufyCam E:

Review

“Did a ton of research on all the major, and some secondary, doorbells and cameras before making a decision on the Eufy units. Unlike a couple of posters I had absolutely NO issues with any portion of the installations. Just followed directions on the little included quick start up guides or the installed Android app and there was absolutely no drama. I’m about 60 feet and thru 2 or 3 walls from the base station with both cameras and see 2 out of 4 signal bars, enough signal strength for a clean signal I was surprised to discover.

There is about a 3 second delay between live video streams on the cameras and maybe a 1 second delay on the doorbell camera while watching live video. Made a simple email Sunday afternoon to tech support asking about if a Win10 app exists and Monday morning they replied and directed me to a web page that would show live camera feeds.

So far the doorbell camera, the 2 other cameras, and the Android software app are a VERY good purchase. There are quite a few reviews and comparisons tests on the University of YouTube about this and other comparable products, IMO these cameras are the best in this approx $200 market. And as an added bonus, no extra usage and storage fees to be on someone’s cloud storage server. I do wish the camera batteries could be replaced when they no long take a charge like the Arlo or Ring cameras is about the only complaint I can think of, but I understand Eufy wanted a bomb proof watertight seal.”

EufyCam 2C: Best Weather-Resistant Spotlight Camera

If you’re planning to film your property primarily at night, then the EufyCam 2C might be the best choice for you. The defining feature of this device is its built-in spotlight, which brightens up an area and allows you to see everything clearly and in color. If you don’t want to use this spotlight, however, the camera also has an infrared setting for night vision filming.

Much like the EufyCam 2 Pro, the EufyCam 2C comes with built-in motion detection and human recognition AI to accurately alert you if there are any suspicious movements in the area you choose. It’s also IP67 weather-proof with a respectable 180-day battery life.

Here’s a customer review on the Eufycam 2C:

Review

“My wife bought this as my birthday present. What I really liked about this so far is the over box and camera design and user experience. The package seemed really classy from the plastic wrap (tightened) to the unfolding of the corrugated lid.

The items I got were HomeBase and the two cameras 2C. The installation was fairly easy and quick. I really liked the use of the app that was downloaded from Google Play Store per the instructions said.

The overall camera quality is awesome as I used one for indoor and the other for backyard. The motion detector is great at the sensitivity level (default). I think for a beginner like me, this is a great fit.”

Best Cameras From Arlo

Arlo Pro 2: Best For Cloud Storage

The Arlo Pro 2 is an excellent home security camera to get if you’re looking for a model you can plug in for continuous charging. This 1080p camera records detailed videos and also has a motion detection feature so that you’ll know if there are any suspicious movements on your property. The device also has a 3-second lookback feature that allows you to see up to three seconds before and after a triggered event, so you’ll know exactly what happened.

The Arlo Pro 2 also offers free cloud storage, allowing you to save seven days of continuous footage. You can also use a USB to secure your recordings.

Here’s a customer review on the Arlo Pro 2:

Review

“The Arlo was unique compared to a few of its competitors in that it had its own hub. I really didn’t want to plug another hub into my router but I’ve found that the hub gives me very fast response to viewing videos, i.e., I don’t have to go to some remote server somewhere to see what’s going on. It also allows me to plug in a USB storage device if I want to keep things local. Nice.

Setup was simple. The app has a setting that allows you to wander around to find the best location for the camera. I’m using the included magnetic mounts so I just screwed them into my house, positioned the camera and I was done. The cameras connect to the Arlo hub which Netgear says can be up to 300 feet away. My farthest camera is about 100 feet away so – no problems. Because the cameras are wireless and run on a rechargeable battery once it’s mounted you’re pretty much done.”

Arlo Pro 3: For A Wide Coverage And Night Vision In Full Color

If you’re looking for unparalleled detail and color detection even at night, the Arlo Pro 3 is the perfect match for you. It has a superb 2K video resolution that allows for undistorted footage no matter the time of day. To supplement this high resolution, it also boasts color night vision to ensure you see features like license plates, faces, and clothes in full color.

The device also offers wide coverage with its impressive 160° field of view. This means that you can see a much bigger area around your property compared to many other security cameras. In addition, it has an auto image correction that reduces the fisheye effect, giving you relatively undistorted footage.

Here’s what a user has to say about the Arlo Pro 3:

Review

“I don’t generally write reviews, but this product deserves it. Purchased the six pack Pro 3. I opened the box and was totally installed and running in less than an hour. So very easy and the quality is exceptional. Installed the app for interacting with and monitoring the system. Very intuitive, no instructions necessary. Arlo offers support with videos but I never had to engage in it. I already have plans to install the same equipment at my office and the app will allow you to see and interact with both locations simultaneously. There is about a 3-4 second lag from the time an alert is activated until I receive a notification. Considering internet and technological delays I am very pleased with this response. Keep in mind, there is no lag in the recording of such event. Great high quality product.”
